The National Packaging Covenant Industry Association is the peak industry body for packaging, representing the interests of industry signatories to the Australian Packaging Covenant (APC).
The Standing Council on Environment and Water (SCEW) Ministers are currently considering 10 regulatory options for the future environmental regulation of packaging.
As an alternative to these options the NPCIA supports a 10 year industry commitment - the Sustainable Packaging Solution - which will help support Australia to continue to do the right thing.
This model will build on and improve the current Australian Packaging Covenant ('APC Mk4').
The NPCIA supports the Australian Packaging Covenant as the sole product stewardship scheme for consumer packaging.

A proposed Container Deposit Scheme is being considered by Federal and State Environment Ministers. The proposal comes at a time when Australians are already recycling more and more and its introduction risks a host of unintended consequences. These include an increase in the price of food and drink we buy (stretching the cost of living even further), a reduction in our valued local kerbside collections and the risk of an increase in the unhygienic hoarding of bottles at home and the encouragement of scavenging for containers.
If you do not support the introduction of a Container Deposit Scheme please complete the form below. It will be sent to Federal Minister for the Environment, The Hon Greg Hunt MP, and your local state environment minister.
Thank you for Doing The Right Thing
